My Happy Summer Reads

Sometimes you just need a happy read, a pick me up, a lighter literary friend.

And what better time than summer to relax with some lighter reading material?

These are my current favorites!

Once Upon a Grind by Cleo Coyle

I have adored Cleo Coyle’s Coffeehouse Mysteries for years! The first book I ever read of Coyle’s, Espresso Shot, got me hooked forever on this New York cafe murder mystery series. If you love cozy mysteries, you will love this book. Even if you’re not familiar with her series, they don’t necessarily follow in any order, so it’s easy to jump right in on the fun!

The Flower Workshop by Ariella Chezar

This gorgeous book, both well written and beautifully photographed, is filled to the brim with practical tips for finding or creating your perfect flower arrangement. Drawing her inspiration from the way each flower naturally grows, Chezar sheds light on the fascinating culture of floral arranging.

The Artful Year by Jean Van’t Hul

This cute, family-friendly read is all about celebrating the seasons with crafting and cooking. Jean Van’t Hul, author of The Artful Parent, passionately pens about why art and food are important to celebrating the seasons with one’s family. And the recipes look delish!

Savannah from Savannah by Denise Hildreth

I haven’t read the whole book yet, but here’s what I’m loving so far: Set in Georgia, of course, this novel revolves around a mother-daughter relationship. Young adult Savannah wants nothing to do with coming back home to…Savannah…and her mother, whose differences from her seem worlds apart. It’s an easy-going read so far, and I’m looking forward to finishing it at leisure!

It’s almost quiet time for kiddos at my house. Translation — I’m about to keep on enjoying these happy summer treasures!
