Spiced Vanilla Latté Simmer Scent

Although baking is fairly high on my priority list during Christmastime, there are some days that we just can’t fit it in. Sadly, we don’t have a Starbucks nearby either, for an emergency coffee-scented atmosphere. Thankfully though, that doesn’t mean my house can’t smell like a coffee house or a freshly baked holiday dessert, though!

This amazing and easy stovetop simmer “recipe” will make your house smell instantly like…well, Christmas! (My husband’s words!) 🙂

With ingredients like ginger, nutmeg, black coffee and vanilla, you really can’t go wrong.

Spiced Vanilla Latté Simmer Scent

1/2 c. strong brewed coffee (I just used my leftover cup from this a.m.!)
2 Tbsp. water
1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/8 tsp. ground ginger
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

Place all ingredients in a small skillet or saucepan and stir gently to combine. Turn on the lowest heat setting on the stovetop, and enjoy! That’s really all there is to it!

Yes, that is my child’s nose sniffing our concoction! 🙂

I turned on the stove for 15 minutes, and then turned it back off. Even now, four hours later and the heat having long been off, I am still smelling the warm, spiced coffee and sweet vanilla wafting through the air!

This can simmer for several hours. I’ve had a simmering scent on for nearly half a day before. When the liquid finally runs dry, you can always add more water or coffee to continue enjoying, or pour down your sink as a refreshing deodorizer!

I love simmer scents in the wintertime. There’s something so cozy about it, especially when there’s no time for baking or hitting up your local Starbucks!

Happy simmering!
